After months of rumors, leaks, and speculation, it’s finally official — The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is getting a remaster.

Hell, judging by the trailers, remaster doesn’t do the game justice.

Bethesda held a livestream today featuring their developers and Virtuos, who went into detail about what’s new — and it’s a lot.

Highlights from the overhaul include:

  • Built using Unreal Engine 5, with overhauled visuals, dynamic lighting, and new lip-syncing tech for NPCs
  • A brand-new leveling system
  • Improved first- and third-person cameras
  • Smoother movement and updated combat animations
  • An expanded character creator
  • Revamped menus and UI

Let’s be real — this doesn’t just feel like a remaster. It looks like a full-blown remake.

The original Oblivion dropped all the way back in 2006, and it’s clear the devs put in the work to make this version feel like it belongs in 2025.

Oh — and the best part? It’s out now for GamePass, Xbox, PlayStation 5 and PC.

I’ve already got it downloaded on my PlayStation 5, so stay tuned for my first impressions and a full review soon.
